Question

How to set a high availability while using weblink ?

asked on January 15, 2016

What we want to know is the best way to set a high availability environment, having Laserfiche Rio with an Unlimited WebLink Portal.

The principal doubt is about how can we set named users automatically from server "A" to server "B" after the first server goes down.

Will it be necessary for us to buy the same amount of named licenses to have both servers working at the same time with the same named users? ... That`s the main issue we want to avoid.

Thanks.

Hey Billy,

If you have unlimited WebLink portal,  you don't need to worry about named users in a WebLink cluster. Public Portal is licensed on the Laserfiche server, not the WebLink server, so users would pull from the public portal license regardless of which WebLink server they're routed through (I'm assuming here when you say server A and server B, you're talking about WebLink server's, not Laserfiche servers).

Even if you were using Named User Licenses to connect through WebLink, it shouldn't matter here. Named users licenses are applied at the LF server level. So a user can log into any named user account frmo any WebLink that's pointing to a given Laserfiche Server.

So the short answer is that there's no need here to buy any additional licenses to attain this sort of setup with WebLink.
