Question

Directory Server 10 compatibility with 9.2 products

asked on December 4, 2015

Hello.  We currently are running Rio 9 applications and servers across several VM instances.  We are using Directory Server 9.x for licensing hosted on a separate VM along with other shared resources like Quick Fields and Quick Fields Agent.

If I just want to install Rio 10 server, forms, & workflow to a development VM, will our current Directory Server 9.x installation allow this, or will we need to upgrade to Directory Server 10?  And if we were to upgrade our Directory Server to version 10, will our existing 9.2 servers/applications/clients be able to communicate with and function alongside the new Directory Server?

The deployment guide isn't clear on if all products need to be upgraded at the same time.

Thank you!

You can continue using Laserfiche Directory Server 9.2 while upgrading the Laserfiche applications (Laserfiche Server, Forms, etc.) to version 10. Note that you'd need to renew the master license in your licensing site so it can generate licenses for version 10.

Alternatively, if you just upgrade Laserfiche Directory Server from 9.2 to 10, then you can leave the Laserfiche Applications at their current 9.2 versions.

Perfect.  Thank you Alexander.  I will probably upgrade to Directory Server 10 to take care of a couple bugs, upgrade the development VM to LF 10, and leave the other VMs at 9.2 until they are ready to move forward.

We are looking forward to the improvements and the new look.

Hi Kevin

We are going to be taking a similar approach this year. Was wondering what your experience was like during the upgrade, and if I should watch out for the gotchyas!
