Hi All,
Would it be possible to add a deactivate button to the activationtool.exe utility? It's a pain to to keep googling the KB article to remember the correct syntax.
Surely that should be relatively straight forward?
Cheers!

Hi Chris,
I think the original question was actually very similar (can we have a UI instead of DOS commands), but regardless, the answer is still the same: this is a matter of policy, not technical feasibility. For more information, you can contact your regional manager.
If you are trying to deactivate on the local machine, create a shortcut to the activationtool.exe and then edit the properties to add a -deactivate at the end of the command.
If you are trying to deactivate another machine (or after the fingerprint has changed), I find it best to use a .bat file. I have a sample .bat file with the syntax on a flash drive and on an FTP server so I can easily get to it if needed.
I agree that having it in the UI of activation tool makes more sense, so I wholeheartedly agree with your request!
My guess is that this is a intentional design mechanism. I suspect the Laserfiche intended way to deactivate a particular machine is to uninstall the app!
Any response from LF on this?
This question has actually already been answered, but it was a while ago: https://answers.laserfiche.com/questions/50585/Deactivating-LF-license
This is a policy question, not a technical question. Miruna recommended contacting your regional manager if you wanted to discuss it further.
Hi Brianna,
I've read through the other post but this isn't really the same request. I'm not asking for the activation key or hwfp to be included in the admin console etc. All the info you need to deactivate is in the lf.licx file anyway. I'm simply asking for a deactivate button on the activation tool so we don't have to go all retro and use dos every time we need to deactivate Laserfiche. Let's join the 21st century with a nice GUID button.
This is already available functionality I'm just asking for a button to be placed on the activationtool.exe to do what's already possible through command line. Not sure how that links with policy in any way?
Cheers!
