Question

Device Licenses with Citrix XenApp

asked on February 24, 2015

Hello

We are trying to determine using device licensing for a potential customer. Their environment uses thin clients (XenApp 6.5 using Shared Desktop). Each thin client (Wyse) gets it's own MAC address.

Is this sufficient to be able to use device licenses (i.e., if each client gets it's own MAC address). I saw the question posed here: https://answers.laserfiche.com/questions/52502/Citrix-Xenapp-and-device-licensing but in this case, it looks like each client will have it's own MAC address, which should be sufficient to assign a device license, right?

At the end of the day, every user or device needs to have a named license, and every device that's using a device license can only have one person connected to Laserfiche at a time. As far as I can tell, if you license every device connecting via XenApp/Wyse, you should be fine. You'll need to test it; there shouldn't be any issues on a technical level, but you'll want to check and make sure that it's registering devices correctly. We can help you with that--speak to your regional manager and we can set you up with an evaluation system to check.
