Question

Print or Insert Form Signature Into PDF using Workflow?

asked on October 17, 2024

Hello everyone,

I have a form that, once it is processed, must be sent to the client via email with a Certificate containing part of the information, which also includes a signature that validates the Certificate.
The certificate is in PDF format (Fillable), from where the information is included through the Workflow before sending it via email. So far, everything is fine, with the information that is text, date or others, except for the Signature.
Do any of you know of a way to insert the Signature in the PDF?
I have read some examples that have been posted here and I have tried to apply them but they do not work for me. Is there an update or a way to be able to do this using Workflow or another method?

PS: On another occasion I needed help with something similar, for which I was given an effective solution for that use case, but this time it must be done differently. I will leave the link to this previous solution here, perhaps someone has some idea of how to adapt this or reuse this so that it is effective to integrate it through the use of Workflow.

Thank you very much in advance

Without any custom code, you can get the signature from a Form and post it into a Word document, and then convert the Word document into a PDF.  I have several processes that do this.

Here's a post that walks through much of how to set it up.

Hi Matthew,

I have applied what you recommended in the post link and I have been able to solve my problem with inserting the signature in a PDF.
What I did was convert the PDF into a Word Document, in the place where the signature should go I put the annotation that you recommended, and I created similar annotations to search and replace for the variables that I needed to put in their place and then I converted the document to PDF, I attached it to an Entry to save it in the repository and I sent the PDF document back to the client with its complete Certificate.

Thank you so much for your guide.

We use a library that can be referenced in the Workflow Script activity using C# language, it takes the forms signature Base64 data provided in the retreive field values token and draws the signature back onto the PDF, given coordinates. Works great, but costly.

It requires the professional plan and you would choose to add the Merger component. This gives you access to the methods you need to draw and merge onto the PDF. Their support has been really good.

Thank you, Chad, this can be great, but the institution can't pay for that plan, or any other extra for this project, it is sad, but I have to find a free way to do it.

Thank you for answering me.

The instructions and screenshots shared in the other comments on this post were regarding on prem.  I do not know if this functionality is available in Cloud or not.  I recommend posting a new question about how to do this functionality in Cloud and/or whether it is available.
