Question

Directory server 11 with server 9

asked on December 14, 2022 Show version history

Dears,

Can Directory server 11 create license to LF 9.2 servers ?

Can License Manager 8.3 create license to LF 11 servers?

Case:

We have five LF 9.2 servers that we have to upgrade them one server every week. We have License manager 8.3.

If we upgrade LM 8.3 to Directory Server 11 first, will we be able to license servers 9.2 that are not yet upgraded?

And if we upgrade servers to 11 first,  will LM 8.3 can license the upgraded servers?

Thanks

Hi Amir,

Laserfiche Directory Server (LFDS) 11 can license Laserfiche Server (LFS) 9.2 instances. It can license down to LFS 8.3. We'd highly recommend upgrading to LFDS 11 first.

If you haven't updated to a Domain Locked license for this customer yet, we'd recommend doing so. There's no cost and you can submit the request for automatic fulfillment from the Activation Keys section of the Support site (scroll all the way to the right).

Good catch. It appears that while LFDS 11 can issue licenses for LFS 9.2, there was a bug affecting user authentication that does require using LFS 10.2.1+.
See: https://answers.laserfiche.com/questions/126653/Directory-Server-102-requires-Laserfiche-Server-version-1021-or-Laserfiche-Server-101-Update-3-KB-1013882

I can't think of any reason that License Manager 8.3 wouldn't be able to issue LFS 11 licenses. It's just a "MaxVersion" property in the license file. You might have to refresh/renew the license in License Manager first in order to pick up the latest MaxVersion property value from our license servers before you can issue licenses for LF 11 applications.

Is it confirmed that LM8.3 can work with LF 11 without issues?
