Question

Directory Server 10.2 requires Laserfiche Server version 10.2.1 or Laserfiche Server 10.1 Update 3 (KB 1013882).

asked on August 28, 2017

Can we get clarification on what this statement means? Does it mean that Directory Server 10.2 is incompatible with versions of Laserfiche Server 9 and below?

I have a Client who wants to upgrade their Directory Server from 10.0 to 10.2 to see if that resolves some pending issues that they are having but their LFS is 9.2. Do they need to upgrade LFS to 10.2.1 before upgrading the Directory server to 10.2?

Sorry about that, we'll clarify the KB article. This only applies through authenticating with Windows Authentication through Directory Server. If you only use LFDS for licensing and not single sign-on, Laserfiche Server 9.2 is just fine.

On further investigation, the KB article is correct. LFDS 10.2 does require Laserfiche Server version 10.2.1 or higher or Laserfiche Server 10.1 Update 3. This is due to a bug that required fixes on both the Server and the Directory Server. We haven't patched the 9.2 version for this issue yet.

I apologize for misleading you initially.

Thanks. The Single Sign-On in this case will involve Web Client, Discussions and Forms. If the Customer has Web Client/Access and Forms and uses Windows Accounts through the Directory Server but both products are not configured for Single Sign-On, will their server still  need to be on version 10+ for Windows authentication [without Single on] to work?

That is correct, LFDS 10.2 would not be compatible with Laserfiche Server 9.2

They would need to upgrade to a minimum of 10.1 Update 3 before upgrading LFDS, but 10.2.1 would probably be preferred.

EDIT: Per Miruna's clarification, this only applies when using Windows Accounts and LFDS authentication.
