Question

Web Client logs in with localhost in URL only

asked on December 28, 2021

Hi, I have done a fresh installation of Laserfiche 11 with latest Web Client version. When browsing Web Client directly on the server with localhost, it logs in successfully and everything works fine.

But when I browse Web Client with IP/Servername in the URL, login page appears but it stays at login page after entering valid user credentials and does not redirect to browse page. Though I see a user session is built in Laserfiche Admin Console. It seems it's authenticating but not redirecting to browse page.

What could be the issue?

Hi Khurram,

I'll echo what Brian is saying, you need to use HTTPS.

I discussed it here - https://answers.laserfiche.com/questions/181530/Web-Access-1042-onwards--HTTPHTTPS#182048

Hi Khurram,

Is the web client on the same server as the Laserfiche app server? If not you'll need to go through the setup in this white paper.

Hope this helps!

Hi, sorry for the late reply. Once configuring https, Web Access works fine. I wasn't able to use with http.

Yes, actually Web Client is on the same Laserfiche App server. I'm preparing one AWS server for Demo and POC purposes. All components on the same server.

Hi Khurram,

If this is AWS, I suspect this issue may be to the routing of the external IP or external server name.

As a test, if you use the URL http://127.0.0.1/Laserfiche directly on the server does this resolve correctly?

Taking it one step further, running CMD and entering hostname and then using the same name in the URL does that work directly on the server? So http://hostname/Laserfiche

Cheers!

Chris

Hi Chris, It's the same issue with http://127.0.0.1/Laserfiche & with http://hostname/Laserfiche.

It's only working with http://localhost/laserfiche on the server.

Kindly note that I have Laserfiche Forms on the same server and that's not the issue with it. I can access forms using http://IPAddress/forms or http://hostname/forms.

Are you connecting to the server over http? Try using https. The problem is that the session cookies are marked "secure", so the browser won't send them back over the insecure http.

Hi Brian, Yes I'm connecting to the server over http. For that, I have even tried to remove <httpCookies requireSSL="true"> from the web.config. But same issue.

Hi, While surfing on answers forum, found the same issue faced by someone else

Web Client Stuck In Login Loop - Laserfiche Answers

I have the exact same issue, but I'm facing it with fresh installation of LF 11 on Windows 2016 Datacenter on AWS. Tried to follow the resolution mentioned in the article but no luck. Web Client stuck in login loop without any message.
