Question

Web Access 10.4.2 onwards & HTTP/HTTPS

asked on November 26, 2020

Hi All,

I’ve noticed some strange behaviour on web access 10.4.2 and higher. Basically, if you upgrade past 10.4.1 and connect using http not https, the system just sits there whirring away and doesn’t load the windows.

I’m able to re-create this on multiple environments on multiple sites, including our own in-house demo systems. This affects both 10.4.2 and 10.4.3. The key seems to be around http and https, if you connect using https then it loads fine.

Has anyone else noticed this?

Cheers!

If you are not using HTTPS:
  1. Open the web client web.config file in a text editor. Default web.config path:
         Web Client: C:\Program Files\Laserfiche\Web Access\Web Files\web.config
  2. Look for the <system.web> block
  3. Within the <system.web> block, delete or comment out the following line:
         <httpCookies requireSSL="true"/>

Thanks for the suggestion Barry, although this just crashes Web Access completely if I comment out this line.

Can anyone from Laserfiche recommend something before I open a support case?

As Brian mentioned, there are few articles on iframe issues with updated browsers and they all seem to blend together.

The Chrome 80 instructions may help.  I resolved this issue in 10.3.1 using the Web Client instructions the other day.

There are a few KB articles on the topic, e.g. https://support.laserfiche.com/kb/1014195/you-may-not-be-able-to-sign-in-to-the-laserfiche-web-client-through-chrome-version-84-when-using-an-insecure-connection-http . Browsers keep making changes that favor https and it's only going to get harder for us to continue to support http. I'd recommend going with https as the preferred solution, and I'd be interested to hear if that's not possible for your scenario.
