Hi Vivek,
Thanks for reaching out and we're glad to hear you want to upgrade to the latest.
I would recommend doing a fresh install of Laserfiche 11 on a new Windows Server 2019/2022 VM(s) and moving the data. Laserfiche 11 has a new user and license management component called Laserfiche Directory Server (LFDS) that you should use going forward. I recommend reaching out to your reseller (Ricoh Canada) about getting a temp license you can use to deploy the new LF 11 system. If your servers are joined to an Active Directory domain, I also recommend asking them to submit a "domain lock" request for your license. This makes the license validation check that the software is installed on your AD domain generally instead of validating the "hardware fingerprint" of a specific server (which can "break" in all kinds of ways when moving VMs).
Also, after upgrading your SQL Server, make sure to update the compatibility level of your Laserfiche databases to the latest available ("150" for SQL 2019) so they can take advantage of the latest SQL features.
For systems with over 50 users, we typically recommend at least a three server setup:
- Web Server - Laserfiche Directory Server, Laserfiche Web Client, Laserfiche Forms, etc. Give this server a user-friendly DNS name like "lf.example.com" you can use for the web apps.
- App Server - Laserfiche Server, Laserfiche Workflow, etc.
- Database Server - Microsoft SQL Server
Hope that helps!
Cheers,
Sam
