Question

Quick Fields - process type 'X' is not licensed for use [0224-BP1]

asked on December 30, 2019

Working through installing Quick Fields under RIO for the first time (QF 10.3).  After installing and activating QF, I'm attempting to open an existing session from version 8.3 - when I do so, I get a series of errors in the Output window saying that all my process types aren't licensed (Lookup, Pattern Matching, Barcode, Substitution, etc.).

I've verified that the QF Instance has the appropriate Bundle associated with it in the Quick Fields configuration under licensing on the support site, and that my machine is listed in LFDS with the associated QF license, and that the application is associated in LFDS as well.

Not sure where to go from here.  Any suggestions appreciated.

Thanks.

Our systems don't show a successful reactivation after you added the bundles to Quick Fields. So LFDS wouldn't have an updated master license to reissue new Quick Fields licenses. The last successful activation was in August and the Quick Fields blocks don't have any add-ons. The attempt to activate on 12/31 failed with "maximum activations exceeded" because the fingerprint and the MAC address used did not match the ones from the previous activation.

So you'll need to renew the master license from LFDS first, then regenerate the licenses for Quick Fields.

Thank You Miruna! That took care of the problem.

Did you make sure to pull the QF license from LFDS and replace over old .licx?  It would be under machines, QuickFields, Get License.

1. You would install QF

2. Add QuickFields Applications to correct machine

3. Choose Get License(licx)

4. Save in same path as QuickFields install Over the old licx license

The Path of license file is usually here:  C:\ProgramData\Laserfiche\Quick Fields\Licenses

Thanks for the reply Rose.  I tried your suggestion, but no luck in resolving the issue.

Prior to installing QF on the workstation, I had gone into the support site and added the appropriate Bundle to each instance of QF that we have (10 licenses).  (Example screenshot attached).

Then I installed QF on the workstation and activated it via LFDS and associated the QF instance.  I assumed QF would pick-up the licensed features that I had already added to the bundle.  However, I did just try your suggestion to go through the Add features process - it didn't resolve it.

This sounds similar to your issue:

You might need to deactivate QuickFields on the machine that had all the add-ons initially and reactivate on the correct machine.

I'd taken a look at that issue you referenced but wasn't sure if it was relevant...  When I open the About box I don't see a section called 'Features'.  However, 'Barcode' appears listed in the loaded assemblies even though it's listed as not referenced in the Output window. None of the other missing processes are listed in the Loaded Assemblies.

This is a first-time install of Quick Fields for a new RIO installation so there isn't a need to deactivate QF on a previous machine.

The QF installation installs all the necessary software for the add-ons correct?

on the first box about Loaded Assemblies, where it shows you the Application and Serial, scroll on that box until you see features.  What does that show?

No features listed.  Just the list of serials for our licenses/instances.

Yes, that is the problem.  The QuickFields activation key you are using does not include the bundle you mentioned.  If it did, it would show in that area.  I would reach out to your reseller to see if the correct license was purchased.

Thanks for helping me work through this.  I'll contact our reseller and double-check our licensing.  Happy New Year!
