Laserfiche on Docker

posted on October 30, 2019 Show version history

I am currently investigating doing our next Laserfiche deployment using Docker containers - both for testing and live environments.

Any previous experience or useful information regarding Laserfiche images and containers for Docker would be much appreciated.

I will at least post back here with my progress (if I make any ☺).

For those who don't know what Docker is, it's "containerization" system architecture - usually related to microservices and used extensively in the cloud by all the big tech companies - Amazon, Netflix, Facebook, Twitter etc.

I gave it some thought a while ago, but part of the issue that I ran into is the reliance on UI based installers, even for the web products. Unfortunately, time has been limited and I haven't had a chance to explore it much further.

We're working on a set of scripts that allow automating deployment of Laserfiche products to Azure and AWS (and bypass all the UI installers). They're on track to be released later this year.

Yes, that was going to be my next step - trying a "silent install". I see that there was mention of it in this post that you contributed to:

I'll have to see how far I can get with that - seems like best approach would be to start with logging a normal installation on a VM or desktop environment.

Hi @████████, a colleague of mine pointed out that by 'we' you are talking about the actual Laserfiche development team, I missed that blush

So would it be possible to get some kind of unofficial Docker/cloud installation guide from Laserfiche - at least as a starting point... ?

I haven't ever tried it with the server products, but the unattended installation for the client still shows the UI with progress bars, even if it doesn't ask for user input.

Also, @████████ 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
