Question

Laserfiche Rio 10.2 Windows client installation

asked on December 10, 2018

When I run the Windows client installation from my Laserfiche Rio 10.2 source directory and launch it for the first time, the Windows client launches and has 5 pre-configured repositories. All of these repositories reside on a staging server. Why would this happen? I have not modified the source directory in any way, or configured a file that would configure the installation this way. Looking for answers...thanks!

LFS broadcasts available repositories, and the client picks that up to display a list of available repositories.

There are a few possibilities here. If your staging server shouldn't be broadcasting, then take a look at this thread. If your client is incorrectly picking up repositories, see this thread.

It seems likely that you have a combination of the two scenarios if it isn't automatically picking up your other repositories from production.

Here's the documentation for the lfscpconfig tool.

Thank you Devin, I am only on the desktop client side of the configuration so I can check that and I will talk to the server owner and check the settings there too. I will post back what I find..thank you again!

Thank you again, Devin. The registry key works for the client side to disable the discovery of broadcast repositories, but that can be changed by the user since it is a current user registry setting. The Laserfiche server owner ended up disabling the broadcast from the Staging server and enabling it for the Production server. Everyone is happy now.
