Question

Preventing the Laserfiche 10 Client from Scanning for Network Repositories

asked on August 11, 2016

Hello,

We have some users workstations that are having it take 12-15 seconds to get the list of repositories in the Laserfiche 10 Thick Client.

We found the KB 1011020, (link below,) on how to do this, but it is from back in 2005, dealing with Laserfiche 7.

https://support.laserfiche.com/kb/1011020/preventing-the-laserfiche-client-from-scanning-for-network-repositories-

Do you know what the process would be in Laserfiche 10 Server to "disable automatic repository broadcast reception?"

Thanks,

It can only be disabled from the client side. On the client machine, set HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Laserfiche\Client8\Profile\Options\Thunk to a string value (REG_SZ) of 0.

Can broadcasting be disabled at the server level?  I found the Reg key from another post for version 9 and on my 10.2 server the reg key is not there.  (Server 2012)

What can be done to stop repository broadcasting on Laserfiche Server version 10?

The process should be the same, you can prevent broadcasting from the Client side. You can also just right-click the Client repository picker in the sign-in screen and uncheck 'Scan Network for Repositories'.

This thread discusses how to turn off the broadcast on the server side.

Questions:

Can it turn off from Server?

If yes.

Would you please provide the steps by steps to prevent broadcasting from Server side?

Hi,

Is it possible to turn off the broadcast Repository option at the server level (or somewhere) so that users can only access Repositories which they have been granted permission and know the name?

Currently I can turn off "scan network for repositories" but a user can re-select it and see the list of repositories again.

Thanks,

Anthony

Run the command to remove the service point (SCP) registration and remove network admin rights from the LF server service user.
