Laserfiche United QuickFields upgrade

asked on October 25, 2018

Our small organization currently uses Laserfiche United version 8.2.1., and has had it for many years. Our current QuickFields version we have only comes with QF Zone OCR, and has been reading a lot of "blank" spaces in between characters it reads.  (example, reads 10/22/18 as 1 0/22/1 8).  From my research and told by our reseller, the solution would be to get the Pattern Matching add-on for QF, to use substitution to ignore the "blank" spaces the QuickFields is reading.  Our reseller says that LF United is no longer supported and we need to upgrade to LF Avante to get the Pattern Matching, but I've read conflicting information on if United is still supported for upgrades/new add-ons from this website.

Because of the way that user Licensing is changed between United to Avante, I am really hesitant to take the change.  I do not like the idea of having to buy an expensive named user license for each of our aprox 22 employees compared to our current set up in United of 12 Retrieval user licenses and 2 Full user licenses that are concurrent usage.  We can only really afford getting 10 named user Avante licenses.

It is really not possible to get any new/additional features for United anymore? Any advice on this would be appreciated.

Hi Kyle,

You can still purchase Quick Fields options for a Laserfiche United system. You don't have to upgrade to Laserfiche Avante.

Having said that, look at the bigger picture. With Avante you also get Laserfiche Workflow, which could potentially assist with other processes and maybe hive off some of the Quick Fields work (as you get pattern matching in Workflow along with MANY other things). You also get Laserfiche Forms Essentials, which you can't get with United at all.

There are so many benefits of upgrading to Laserfiche Avante/Rio over United/Team, it doesn't make logical sense to sink money into an option for United, when in todays digital world, everything is moving towards automating business tasks.

I'm sure your VAR could enlighten you on the differences, and looking at the bigger picture, personally I would upgrade to Avante. The cost and benefits are worth it in my opinion.

Hope this helps!

Normally I would agree that getting the newer features in Laserfiche Avante would be a good thing for us.  However we have no use in our day-to-day work for the newer features such as Forms, we already have a program that does something nearly identical to that.  Only reason we want this Pattern matching is so I don't have to waste my time when we OCR our documents into LF manually fixing all the misread text, as the OCR results is how our documents are sorted into the Repository folders. (we only OCR the first page of the documents)

Hi Kyle, We will have our Regional Manager get in touch with your Solution Provider to better understand the licensing requirements and see how we can keep you moving forward with Laserfiche.

Thank you. The conflicting information oh if we "must" to upgrade to Avante just to get the pattern matching/substitution add-on for Quickfields has been rather confusing.
