For LFDS with Avante, is there special licensing needed?

Hi John,

Laserfiche Avante customers will be able to request LFDS master licenses for now - it will not be automatically enabled for everyone. Once requested, they will license via an LFDS master license instead of direct product activation, like with Laserfiche Rio.

Note that this item will actually be available closer to the general 10.4 release at Empower 2019.

Hi Justin,

I'm struggling to understand why you would want LFDS for Avante. Is this simply to bring the products more in line, or is there actually a real use case for licensing Avante using LFDS?

Cheers!

Chris

The LFDS with Avante was introduced for the subscription and participant licensing.  Currently these are in a limited release but (I believe) due for general release with LF 10.4.

Hey Bert! laugh

So I'm right in thinking you'll be able to get Avante on Subscription licensing then?

That is my understanding

Chris,

Our main uses are the following:

  • Single sign on for forms
  • Manage licenses from AD group
  • SAML login

Hi Chris,

Yes, as others have said, it's to allow us to better provide certain licensing and identity management in Laserfiche Avante systems. We aren't originally going to recommend providing it to all scenarios, but it will be specifically targeted for those with participant or subscription license types. Note that it will not necessarily provide every piece of functionality that LFDS currently does in a Laserfiche Rio environment, we will have a specific listing when that is finalized.

It's worth it for single sign-on alone. We have a few customers still on Avante, and they hate having to log into WA and Forms separately.

Hi Brandon,

How do we register for this pre-release?

Cheers!

You don't need to register. This our usual release procedure where the software will be available for download to VARs only for a limited period of time.

Any chance this version is going to have field rules for templates to show or hide fields depending on the value of another field (much like forms)?

Hi,
Could someone please explain what is meant by

Natively work with a document's location information across the Laserfiche suite

And I'm also interested in what has been added to RM.

Thanks!

Ben

Can anyone confirm if this release introduces the promised Rich Text support for Multi Line fields in forms?

Yes, Forms 10.4 will include a rich text field that designers can add to their forms for submitters to submit rich text.

The big burning question is, when you say " Natively work with a document's location information across the Laserfiche suite" does this mean we can now upload documents from Laserfiche into Forms?

They are probably talking about the geolocation data that enables map overlays. That’s just a guess though.

It would be a total game changer if repo docs could be pushed to Forms file upload fields out of the box.

Yes, this update refers to being able to assign a GPS coordinate as a "location" property to repository entries, so they can be viewed and searched for based off a map interface in the web client folder browser or document viewer. This is an expansion of the current capability that we have in the Laserfiche app. The location can be assigned manually, or workflow can also retrieve and modify these location properties. Laserfiche Forms can also set a location property when a form/document is saved to the Laserfiche repository.

Does this include the option of after filling out a signature field have it check to see if the field has a value in it and if so, not clearing the field instead of having to create two different forms to mark the signature field as read-only? (https://answers.laserfiche.com/questions/64696/Forms-92-Signature-Not-Carrying-Through-Steps) This request was from back in 2015.

Hi All,

Is there any update on when this will be released? We are keen to get to grips with the new flexible records management.

Cheers!
