A client is moving their RIO 9.2 system to a new VM

asked on July 19, 2016 Show version history

Client is virtualizing their current RIO 9.2 system and moving it to a new VM. Therefore the hardware fingerprint will change. I am new to RIO so could someone please provide detailed steps as to how to accomplish this?

From my experience with Avante you deactivate so your license become available then you can reactivate.

Can I just deactivate the RIO Licensing Manager and reactivate? Will this pickup all my other license then, the LF Server, QuickFields, etc....   Everything is on one box. They are virtualizing the entire Laserfiche RIO system, LM, LF Server, Quickfields, etc... and moving it to a new VM box.     Please advise     Thanks Wendi

If the License Manager is moving to this virtual server, you will need to deactivate and reactivate your master license as you mentioned.

In addition, you will need to remove the old registered application instances, register new application instances with the new machine, and download and replace the licenses for your applications.

Since it sounds like you are installing each application on the new machine, you should just be able to point the installer for each application to your License Manager to handle the registration and download of the new licenses (with the exception of Quick Fields 9 and earlier, which requires you to manually register and download the license).

Thank you Brianna for your reply, the client would like to do the move very soon so I need a recap.

1st they are Virtualizing the entire LF system RIO Licensing manager, LF Server, Workflow, Connector is all on this machine. They are going to VM this entire LF system and move to it new hardware.

If I uninstall the RIO license manager from the original hardware, move the  VM to new hardware and reinstall the license manager will that work?

Is there a paper where I can get step by step instructions on this? The client wants to know the steps and so do I just to be clear. (I have reactivated Avante but never done Rio before)  Thanks Wendi
