Question

Moving server to virtual environment

asked on June 2, 2016

I have a customer moving a LF server to a virtual environment and want to know what the steps are to keep the server instance working after this move. We assume the MAC address and fingerprint will change so it will not work correctly after the switch. Should the server be uninstalled and then reinstalled once it is virtual and a new license cut for it in LFDS? Yes, this is for RIO. My original thought was to use the activation tool but I don't think this is the case for RIO.

With Rio, you don't have to uninstall the old server because you get unlimited installations. Just install the new one and point it to LFDS in the installer and it will register itself and get a license.
