Question

Possibility to not allocate any license to the ADMIN account

asked on May 4, 2016 Show version history

Hi all,

My customer has 30 licenses, with a mix of named devices and repository named users. We have a ADMIN account used to connect to Laserfiche, in workflow configuration, troubleshoot issues. This account is not used by the customer. The ADMIN account is taking one repository named user license. Is it possible to not allocate any license to the ADMIN account?

Thanks to advise.

Kind Regards,

Sheila

Yes, the built in Laserfiche ADMIN account does not need to be marked as a named user or take a license.  When you setup a new repository it defaults to unchecked.

To expand on that, the "admin" account does not need a license if you're only going to use for administrative actions. The server allows for 2 concurrent sessions of users without a named license if they have Manage Trustees.

We usually recommend creating a dedicated user for Workflow (which also does not need named user license for Workflow actions).

If you're going to use "admin" for Quick Fields sessions and such, then it does need a named user license.
