Question

How to complete offline activation if ActivationTool and it's config have not been installed yet?

asked on April 27, 2016

Attempting to install Version 10. Server is specifically blocked from web, so offline activation is needed. Found the following KB article - https://support.laserfiche.com/KB/1012198 seems pretty straightforward except for one thing. I can download the hardware fingerprint application and run it, but to create the license file, I need the activationtool.exe and its config file. The KB seems to assume activation happens after install, in which case these files would be in the file system. However, it is asking for activation before install, so I clearly can't run activationtool. So I am stuck...any other options?

That is one way to do it! I actually figured it out myself. Since the install is a compressed package, I was able to find the 2 files needed in the appropriate cabinet file, change the file extensions, copy to an internet enabled machine and it worked perfectly.

For reference, they are located here:

[Top Level Folder,If applicable]\en\Server\lfs_x64.cab

Copy ActivationToolConfigFile & ActivationToolExeFile to a machine with internet access.

Rename ActivationToolConfigFile to ActivationTool.exe.config

Rename ActivationToolExeFile to ActivationTool.exe

Follow the instructions on the KB. Thanks again for the input!

I have a situation where installing Quickfields for use with a cloud system.  Workstation is getting a Winhttp error.  There is no software installed on that workstation at this point.  Is there a place where these files and instructions for offline licensing can be downloaded?
