Question

Excel shared workbook

asked on April 26, 2016 Show version history

Is it posible to share an excel file inside Laserfiche?
I am looking to use the existing excel functionality like shown in here:

https://support.office.com/en-us/article/Use-a-shared-workbook-to-collaborate-b8207fe9-a613-483f-b804-0ca4658b0c61

When I tried it, the second user can open a read only copy.

Thanks

Gian

Hi Gian,

I believe Sharepoint Protocol integration is required for that kind of functionality.  I think Laserfiche would need to develop some kind of MS Office Service too.

Interestingly, this would allow MS Word on the Mac to integrate with Laserfiche (rather than by relying on COM add-ins).

Have tried accessing the document via WebDAV? I think that might work. You could try navigating directly from Windows explorer through WebDAV and also try enabling WebDAV and opening it via the client (Tools > Options > View > Open With > Open electronic documents by default using WebDAV)

I'm curious if this works well. I am on United, so WebDAV is not available for me.

Hi All,

Has anyone tested the above with WebDAV? I would love to know if this can work? As a client has this as a requirement..?? I know if using LF Client, the second user will open the file as read only, but this client would like multiple users accessing and editing the file.

Thank you in advance,

Regards
