avante install account

asked on March 28, 2016

Whats the recommendation when installing Avante Ver 10? Should you use the windows "local" account, or create a special domain account for Laserfiche usage?

It depends on how you want to connect to SQL. If the SQL server is on the same machine, Local System should be enough. If your SQL Server is on a different machine and you want to use Windows authentication, then you'll need a domain account. If SQL is on a different machine, but you're planning on using a SQL account to connect, then Local System or Network Service is sufficient as well.

To install the product , you will need an account that is a member of the Local Administrator group or Power User Group to the machine, this account should also  need access rights to deploy files in windows. During the configuration of the system If you plan to use SQL instance that is local to the machine and if you plan to set the repository path (which includes Volumes /Search Catalog) also under the same local drive , then the account running the Laserfiche Server service can remain as "local system "

In case you plan to use SQL instance located in a different network machine within the same domain, or if you plan to set the repository folder path including the search catalog in a different network drive than the Laserfiche Server, then the account running the Laserfiche Server service should be change to Domain Windows Account.
