Question

LFDS (License Directory) order of precedence

asked on March 17, 2016

Hi!  We are using one repository for our needs.  We are going to start needing to make sure a user has the correct license type and wondering if License Directory can "assist" with this.

For example, should all 'retrieval groups' be checked first to see if the user is a member and a retrieval license assigned.  Then the full license groups should be evaluated and if a member is also in a full license group, they will get a full license??

Basically, if they have both license types, full license needs to trump and if we're using the automatic active directory sync, can I put them in the "right order" so that it happens correctly?

Thanks!

AD Sync rules are checked in the order they're listed, top to bottom. However, there was a known issue in the first release of LFDS 10 where the order was ignored. This has been fixed in Update 1.

Miruna,

You are so dang fast :-)

We are on version 9.2.0.453.  I want to say there might be a hotfix that should be installed...

I want to make sure I have this straight.  If I list them as all full license groups first and then retrieve groups, if the person is in a retrieval group too, they will ultimately end up in a retrieval group (because I listed those after).  If I list retrieval groups first, then full license groups, the person "should" end up with a full license.

Thanks so much!
