Connector Profile Creator Licensing

asked on February 5, 2016 Show version history

I know the Connector Profile Creator component requires a license.   When checking

Product: Laserfiche Connector - RIO

Product Root: ECNC

License Quantity:   1

Does this mean they can only license 1 Connector installation with the Profile Creator?  And if so, won't this create a problem with larger clients using Connector across multiple departments who might like to have a Connector profile creator for each department.  Or am I just misinterpreting the "1 license" aspect.  I ran through the LF Connector guide, but couldn't find any reference to this.

Thanks in advance!

Hi Damon,

The way connector is licensed, all named users in the system will be able to have an installation of Connector.  Quantity “1” shows up by default since the number of licenses for Connector will change based on the number of named users for a particular system.  This is different from other Laserfiche products, whose license quantity actually correspond to the amount of licenses available since they are licensed individually.

When I recently installed the connector for a customer I noticed that I couldn't create a new connector profile until I went to Directory Server and created a license for the laptop I was working on and then copying that license file to the local machine.  Did I not need to do that?  Could I have copied the original license that was created when I licensed LF Connector to each of the PCs?

Thanks

Sandy

You took the correct steps: Connector license files do require a hardware fingerprint, so you need to generate a license for each machine where you wish to install the profile creator. These licenses are not intended to be transferable between machines.

Hi Sandy,

You also should have been able to activate against the directory server during the installation itself without manually going to it to create the license file. Did this not work?
