Question

Can we do Laserfiche Web Access and WebDav on same server?

asked on January 24, 2016 Show version history

Hi All,

I'd like to enable Webdav on the same server as Webaccess (currently Laserfiche Server and Web Access are on same server) - but when enabling this appears to take over port 80 and disables web access.  I'd really like to not change the port for webaccess as this would mean users having to remember a port number...

My Server currently has 3 IP's:  Can I get WebDav to listen on one specific IP?

We are a small business who sells laserfiche to small-medium businesses so 'just get another server' or 'spin up a virtual' are not great answers as even the virtual has costs such as licensing and maintenance.

Thanks in advance,

You could change the port for Web Access and use IIS to make URL rewrite rule that redirects users to the the URL with the correct port. I haven't tried this myself, but based on some brief research, it should be possible. These links should get you started:

We use URL rewrites like this internally to redirect users from http to https for our internal company Web Access server and it works great!

You'll need the IIS URL rewrite module for this, which you should be able to install from server manger on Server OS's and will already be installed if you're using Web Access 10.

Thanks for the response Ryan,

I don't understand how this would help as:

  • Laserfiche Server (WebDAV) would be listening on port:80
  • if user were to type lf.something.com they would get a HTTP error due to Laserfiche listening on this port and not IIS

Please let me know if my understanding is incorrect.
