Please see https://answers.laserfiche.com/questions/89073/Empower-VM-available. If you haven't joined the Empower group on answers, you can do so here: https://answers.laserfiche.com/groups/19/Empower-Conference (You can access the post either way, but that way you'll see new posts show up on your dash).

Ok, so,

I have the VM Player installed, but cannot locate the conference virtual machine (.vmx file?).

What should my expectations be?  Should I be able to view the conference machine or do I need to wait until Monday to be able to fully access it?

I have navigated to the folder the files extracted to, but am not finding a .vmx file to open.

Hopefully I don't sound too clueless.

Part 2:   An hour or so later.......

Win Zip did not extract all the needed files.  I went back and followed the instructions posted previously (use Win RAR or 7z).  I am using 7z and it said it would take 11 minutes to extract the file.  I paused the extract and looked in the folder that the RAR file was being extracted into....voila!  Empower files were showing up!  I will update again once it has finished to let you know how things are.

All that to say, I am sorry if I steered anyone in the wrong direction based on the fact I first used an extractor other than what was recommended by our Laserfiche folks.  I was being a renegade and it did not work out.  :)

Part 3..........another hour or so later.

Success!!!!

After extracting using 7z, I was able to open the VM Player and the Empower 2016 VM.  I then had to go into the BIOS of my PC and enable vtx.  There are some great videos on You Tube to help with this.  After that there were a few VM updates (recommended tools) that I let update and after a VM restart, everything was there!!!!

I have an HP Envy running Windows 8.1

Thanks to my patient husband for his help in getting me to use a recommended extractor!

It does make a difference.  :)

Can't wait for the conference.  Good night all and hope this has been helpful to someone.

Thanks,

Christine

One final note for informational purposes - it took about 6 hours to initially download the VM.  That may not be the case for everyone, but wanted to share that.  I am sure it will be a much quicker process for anyone getting it installed at the conference.
