I've created a directory user in LFDS but when I got into the admin console I don't see a location (LFDS) to get the user from. Has anyone seen this issue?

We have so far been unable to reproduce, but we are still looking into this. Some information that would be helpful:
As a note, you mentioned that you added a "directory user". If you mean you added a Windows AD user, Windows users are still registered under the Windows node in the admin console. It's only the Laserfiche users created in LFDS that require registration using the new Laserfiche Directory Server node.
Yes this was an upgrade, from 9.2.1. And I am trying to add a Laserfiche User that I've created in LFDS.
This is actually the second customer that I've upgraded with the same issue. Internally our Laserfiche was upgraded and works fine though.
Though I have not been able reproduce with the LFDS 9.2.1 -> LFDS 10 upgrade scenario, the issue might be related to https://answers.laserfiche.com/questions/88453/LF-Server-10-cannot-connect-with-LFDS#88697. You could try the solution suggested there (unregister and re-register the LFS, replace the license, and restart LFS service).
I did see an issue where if LFS could not properly connect to the SQL database, this node was blank, but in that case I was shown the error "General dabatase error" first.
I actually had this issue as well, and this fixed that particular issue but not the one I'm asking here unfortunately. I'm thinking it might be a communication issue. What ports need to be open for Admin console/laserfiche server to talk with LFDS? If there are any besides 5048/5049
