Question

Quick Fields in Domain1 and LF Server in Domain 2

asked on November 12, 2015

We have a scenario where one of our customer has two domains (same customer has two domains).

Both domains have individual RIO systems setup. The reason behind both domains having individual RIO systems is because, them both domains don't have trust built between each other.

Issue:

Domain1 hasn't got any Quick Fields but Domain2 has two Quick Fields. We want to use the Quick Fields in Domain2 to do some processing on LF Repository hosted at Domain1 under Domain1 License Manager but when we try to do that, we get an error "Quick Fields is not licensed for Laserfiche Server xxxxxxx.xxx.test" [0213C1].

Is there a way around for this?

This error you are getting is expected as the Quick Fields licence is tied to the Rio licence it was bought for. You will need to talk to your regional manager to see if you can transfer your Quick Fields licence to the other Rio license.

Thanks Cathy.

That's what I thought but I was just checking if there is a way to handle this by doing some host file config changes etc.

You could potentially have rio system 1 process these documents and replicate them to rio system 2. Since it's Rio you could even setup an extra repository on rio system 1 to make sure those files are not placed in that site's production repository.

The replicate entries option in workflow will allow you to connect to any server. Since there is no trust you'll just have to use a local laserfiche account for authentication in the login settings for replication.

This process will help if there is still a need to have quick fields in rio system 1. If it's unused I'd definitely work with LAserfiche licensing to look into getting it transfered.

Thanks Chris.

Good advise. We are currently looking into options and will definitely consider this.
