Question

If a User is Setup with an LDAP License...?

asked on November 6, 2015 Show version history

1. I know that if you setup a user account as a Windows Account, the user can select the "Use Windows Authentication" checkbox when logging into the Laserfiche client. Does that hold true if the user account is setup as an LDAP account?

2. With forms, we have participant licenses that are setup using LDAP. Because of that, if we were to want to move one of those accounts to a named user account, we cannot make a connection between the Forms users data if we make their named user account a Windows Account. Would it then be suggested to use LDAP Accounts for named users licenses?

3. Last question. If yes to the 2nd question, we have all of our current named user accounts setup as Windows Accounts. Is there a way to migrate those accounts to LDAP Accounts in Laserfiche and Forms?

1. If the user account is set up as LDAP account, you need to type the username(in the format of accountname@profilename) and password when log into Laserfiche Client

2. Yes, the users' data for Forms LDAP participant will be linked to LDAP named user

3. To migrate from Forms LDAP participant to LDAP named user in Laserfiche, you just need to add those accounts as LDAP Accounts in the repository used by Forms and assign them with named user license, then click "Synchronize Users" in system security page from Forms. After that the LDAP named users will be synchronized into Forms and the Forms LDAP participant will be marked as invalid. All the user data will be linked to the LDAP named user.

Xiugong, thank you for the reply. On #3 though, the question was actually about how to migrate named user windows accounts to LDAP named user accounts so that information in Forms is not lost for those users.
