Question

Field tokens set in Snapshot

asked on October 26, 2015

Hi, I'm quite new to this so I apologize if this is a dumb question....

I am trying to set a user profile in Snapshot for a specific type of file, where the file name and location are created from field values in the template.  I've set up both and saved the profile, but when I go to print using Snapshot, the file name field tokens are working fine, but the folder location field tokens have disappeared and I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong.

This is a screenshot of the Snapshot Configuration - as you can see the field values are in the folder location:

But this is a screenshot using the user profile when printing a document - my field tokens are no longer in the file path:

Can someone let me know what I'm doing wrong here?

Thanks!!

Snapshot tries to resolve the tokens for the field in the folder path as soon as the print job has completed. Since the Condo Name field doesn't have a default value, the empty string is substituted in. It doesn't do this for the document name.

However, there's a little trick you can use to get Snapshot to do what you want. If you double up the percent signs in the folder path, Snapshot will ignore the tokens and replace each %% with a single %, then the Laserfiche server will see the token and perform the substitution and it will work as desired. So in the above example, specify \Archive\%%(Field:[Condo Name])\Year End: as the path.

The doubling up of percent signs to disable token processing works anywhere in Laserfiche Snapshot, the Windows desktop client, and Web Access where tokens are processed.
