Question

directory service offline activation

asked on October 14, 2015

Hi,

I am trying to renew the license in the directory service website but we need to do it offline.

Our vendor send us a license file to add but when I try to renew it it is showing as if is trying to contact the Laserfiche activation webservice.

See attached screenshot.

Any idea how to activate offline with a license file?

Thanks

Gian

Adding some more info, if I click on Renew this error shows up.

If instead I click on OK the loading icon appears but doesn't do anything. I let it run for over 30 minutes.

Thanks
Gian

Hi Gian,

What version of LFDS is this? 9.2.1 had a fix for generating a more meaningful error message upon activation.

Cheers!

Hi Chris,

We are using version 9.2.1.208

I found some event logs in the server refering to the DS.

Under Applications and Services Logs/Laserfiche/Directory Service/Server/Operational trace I found:

System.ServiceModel.EndpointNotFoundException: There was no endpoint listening at https://activation.laserfiche.com/IActivationService.svc that could accept the message. This is often caused by an incorrect address or SOAP action. See InnerException, if present, for more details. ---> System.Net.WebException: Unable to connect to the remote server ---> System.Net.Sockets.SocketException: A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond 68.71.246.189:443

at System.Net.Sockets.Socket.DoConnect(EndPoint endPointSnapshot, SocketAddress socketAddress)

at System.Net.ServicePoint.ConnectSocketInternal(Boolean connectFailure, Socket s4, Socket s6, Socket& socket, IPAddress& address, ConnectSocketState state, IAsyncResult asyncResult, Exception& exception)

Then under Applications and Services Logs/Laserfiche/Directory Service/WebAdmin/Operations

Reactivation was not successful.

LMAdminWeb.Infrastructure.Exceptions.LMAdminWebException: Reactivation was not successful. ---> Laserfiche.LicenseManager.LMO.LMOException: There was no endpoint listening at https://activation.laserfiche.com/IActivationService.svc that could accept the message. This is often caused by an incorrect address or SOAP action. See InnerException, if present, for more details. ---> System.ServiceModel.FaultException`1[Laserfiche.LicenseManager.LMO.LicenseManagerService.LMFault]: There was no endpoint listening at https://activation.laserfiche.com/IActivationService.svc that could accept the message. This is often caused by an incorrect address or SOAP action. See InnerException, if present, for more details.

Server stack trace:

at System.ServiceModel.Channels.ServiceChannelProxy.Invoke(IMessage message)

Exception rethrown at [0]:

at Laserfiche.LicenseManager.LMO.Utils.ConvertLMException(Exception ex)

This seems to point at the same situation.

Is not connecting to the webservice.
Which is very strange as I am uploading a license file instead of a license key.

Also I found this error:

There was no endpoint listening at http://general:5048/LicenseManager/service that could accept the message. This is often caused by an incorrect address or SOAP action. See InnerException, if present, for more details.

System.ServiceModel.EndpointNotFoundException: There was no endpoint listening at http://general:5048/LicenseManager/service that could accept the message. This is often caused by an incorrect address or SOAP action. See InnerException, if present, for more details. ---> System.Net.WebException: The remote name could not be resolved: 'general'

at System.Net.HttpWebRequest.GetRequestStream(TransportContext& context)

at System.Net.HttpWebRequest.GetRequestStream()

at System.ServiceModel.Channels.HttpOutput.WebRequestHttpOutput.GetOutputStream()

It is looking at http://general:5048/LicenseManager/service  which if I open I get Host Unresolved ,by if I replace "general" with "localhost" it opens the webservice.

lastly I found this:

Master license of database "Laserfiche Luxembourg DS DB" not gotten successfully.

LMAdminWeb.Infrastructure.Exceptions.LFDSUnauthorizedException: Master license of database "Laserfiche Luxembourg DS DB" not gotten successfully. ---> Laserfiche.LicenseManager.LMO.LMOException: Exception of type 'Laserfiche.LicenseManager.AccessDeniedException' was thrown. ---> System.ServiceModel.FaultException`1[Laserfiche.LicenseManager.LMO.LicenseManagerService.LMFault]: Exception of type 'Laserfiche.LicenseManager.AccessDeniedException' was thrown.

Server stack trace:

at System.ServiceModel.Channels.ServiceChannelProxy.Invoke(IMessage message)

I don't know what the access denied is about. Just in case I added the everyone user to be able to register master licenses.

This afternoon I am going to try to unregister the licensing site and register it again.

Thanks
Gian

Hi Gian,

Sounds like it can't contact the licensing site. Check to see if you can ping activation.laserfiche.com.

There will likely be a firewall blocking this.

Cheers!

Hi Chris,

Yes exactly, there is no ping but because the server needs to remain offline.

That is why I need a way of activating with a license file instead of the license key.

Thanks

Gian

Ah OK. I'm not sure what the steps are to add an offline master license in LFDS. It was pretty easy in License manager! Will take a look and revert back!

Hi Gian,

Interesting..... In my testing here, I click the OK button at this point, and nothing happens!

Although I'm using Laserfiche Directory Server Version 9.2.0.548. Will upgrade it now to 9.2.1.

Might be best if we raise a support case? What do you think?

Cheers!

Hi Chris,

Yes can you open a support case?

Let me know if you need me to send you logs and screenshots.

Thanks!

This was fixed by following Chris answer.

Went to each server instance, clicked edit and then save.

After that I added the license and it worked
