Question

unable to do a manual activation with lf.licx in LFDS

asked on October 1, 2015

I did a manual deactivation and an activation to obtain the lf.licx file.  When i try to load it into via the LFDS interface, the status icon keeps spinning with no results.  The reason why i had to go through a manual deactivation/activation is because the client is unable to open the required port for laserfiche to renew automatically.

Another thing to try is to view and save the Laserfiche Server instances. To do this, go to the Server application instances, click the down arrow next to each > Edit > Save. You don't need to make any changes.

There is an issue with upgrading instances registered from the Server installer that we plan to address in the next LFDS release, but it is simple to workaround.

There may have been a change in the new master license which is causing this issue. The primary reasons are:

  1. If the existing license database contains registered application instances for products that no longer appear in the new master license
  2. If the GUID of a product somehow got changed in the new master license such that it's different than the original product GUID

As a workaround, try unregistering any application instances you have for Web Accelerator. Then see if you can renew the master license file by importing the new one.

Alex,

for this particular instance, the customer does have an update feature to one of their quickfields's lincese.  Would this be the cause of it?  Should i unregister and try importing the master license file again?

Please do. I would still unregister Web Accelerator as well. I checked this customer's old master license and the new one you just generated and the GUID is different.

Alex,

I just did an unregister but it still doesn't want to load the master license.  I do notice that they have a workflow instance registered for version 8.  Should this be removed as well?  Also, they do not have any Web Accelerator registered.

Go ahead and proceed with removing the registered Workflow 8.0 instance as well. Another potential application that may have an issue is WebLink, so please keep that in mind. Once you are able to successfully renew the master license, just add back the needed application instances.

Thanks Brianna,  after doing the suggested guideline I was able to import the offline master license file.
