Question

Fill out PDF activity

asked on September 1, 2015

I am trying to use fill out PDF activity in workflow. My PDF is located in Laserfiche Repository. I use Search Repository activity to find that PDF. However, in the Fill out PDF activity, how do I choose that PDF that I searched? It is not appearing in the drop down. Any help is appreciated. Please see attached the screen shot.

Hi Priya,

The Fill out PDF Form activity is a little different than the others and requires a bit of setup before you get to this point. This is why you are not seeing it in your dropdown.

What the drop down is looking for is a map of instructions on how to fill out the pdf you are searching for.

Add one by selecting

Once you have the map, you can proceed with filling out your document  based on the pdf template setup above.

To quote Miruna (underlined for emphasis as this applies to your situation):

Fill Out PDF Form needs a document to work with, it does not create one. You need to either specify a document in Laserfiche that is the empty PDF form or create a document, attach the PDF Form to it, then fill in the fields.

Carl,

Thanks. I have a empty PDF to start with. Can I select anything to map in that fill out pdf? Should it not be the same empty pdf that is stored in repsoitory? The referenced object nabager does not let me add pdf from repository.

Thanks

Priya

It should be the same as the pdf's you anticipate getting filled in. Take the empty pdf and export it to your desktop. Then add it into the referenced object manager that way.

Now you should be able to continue with configuring the rest of the activity :)
