What would be the easiest way to move the LFDS over to a new server without having to recreate everything?
Question
Question
Answer
Detach the licensing site, but do not delete the licensing database. Install LFDS on the new server and create/attach a licensing site while referencing the existing licensing database. Lastly, see Miruna's answer from this thread as it still applies to LFDS (where the license files generated contain the LFDS server name). This step is so that you won't have to regenerate all the license files.

Update Aug 12th, 2021:
In case anyone comes across this post in a search, detailed information on how to move LFDS is now in the online product documentation:
I believe you will need to deactivate the license before you detach the database, and reactivate it after reattaching (so that the Hardware Fingerprint matches the new machine.
1) Deactivate
2) Detach database
3) Attach database on the new server
4) Reactivate
Thanks, this should make things a lot easier!
Guy, how did it all pan out did you run into any issues, I am planning move of our VM this Friday and wanted to know if the steps being posted all over the board are sufficient ?

Basically, if you DNS alias the machine so that the products know where to find LFDS, you do not have to regenerate license files. If you do not take those steps, you will.

Do we need to regenerate license files for the other components when doing this method?
