The Laserfiche Directory Server itself doesn't use a license file. It's the licensing sites/databases that you use which need to be licensed using the Rio Master License. This is provided as an option during the initial creation of the licensing database (the other two being activating against the Laserfiche Activation Server or perhaps upgrading from a Rio License Manager database). Also, when you update the licensing database (i.e. after purchasing additional products, named users, etc.) your options are to re-activate against our Activation Server or to supply a license file.

Ok, we are unable to activate because of a trust relationship with the certificate provided by GoDaddy that resides on the activation.laserfiche.com server. I am not sure how we can convince the Directory Server to trust this SSL certificate.

You can just do a manual activation with ActivationTool.exe from another computer that is able to access the activation server. Note that you can just copy the .exe and its config file to another computer and run it. Be sure to supply the proper fingerprint and hostid information of the actual server where the Laserfiche Directory Server resides.

Once you have the Rio Master License, just copy that back over to the Laserfiche Directory Server machine and then when you are creating a new license database or updating an existing one, use the option where you can supply it with a license file.

Chad,

Windows 8.1 and Windows 2012 R2 machines do not have a trusted root certificate for GoDaddy (like the older versions of Windows did). If that's what you're using, you would still be unable to activate even after following the rest of the activation steps (like opening up port 443 and so on). You can install one from GoDaddy's site or activate and download the master license from a machine with a different version of Windows.

A KB article detailing the issue and steps to install the certificate will go up within the next day or so. Thank you for reporting the issue.

On this same post, how do you find out what HWFP LFDS is licensed to? You can find this in the LF.licx file for the other options, is this HWFP stored in the LFDS database somewhere? Thanks!
