Question

All Named Users come unchecked during server move & upgrade

asked on July 13, 2015

It seems that when I move an Avante system (particularly version 8.x or 9.0 systems) AND perform a version upgrade to 9.2.1, all of the named users are unchecked when I finally get the new system up and running. I have seen this several times, and so have some other Techs I talked to. The general outline of the process for me is:

  1. Stop Laserfiche services on old server
  2. Copy repository folders, images, and databases to new server
  3. Uninstall (or manually deactivate) the software on the old server.
  4. Install the upgraded software on the new server.
  5. Reconfigure everything on the new server (attach databases, register the repository, update volume paths if necessary, regenerate search index, etc)

At the end of this process, the repository is reconfigured and everything appears normal with the exception that all of the Named Users have come unchecked. Am I doing something wrong here? Had anyone else run into this? What's the proper order to do things in for a Laserfiche server move and upgrade? Should I upgrade in place on the old server before moving to the new server?

You also need to copy over the named user database (lfsnu.db in the install folder) from the old server to the new server.
