Question

Named Users and Devices not showing up in admin console

asked on May 28, 2015

For some reason, I have a customer who is running Avante 9.1, and in the admin console on the LF server there is no "Named Users and Devices" node showing up.

Customer is logged in as the domain admin to the LF server, and the domain admin as well as builtin\administrators are both listed as system managers.

Does anyone know how to make the Named Users and Devices node to show up, or what controls that?

What version of the Admin console are you using? Can you make sure that you are running the same version as that of your server.

On the problem machine, open a new admin console by opening MMC and adding the Laserfiche Admin Console Snap-in.  Run the Admin console from there.  Does this show you named users and devices when you run it this way?

Do you get the same behavior using Web Admin?

Jim,

Make sure you log into the admin console on the server first, then add the desired users to the System Manager node.  This will allow them to see the Named users and Devices node from any admin consoles after that.

*Make sure that the windows account is correct.

Yeah, we are just working on the server.  He RDP's over to the LF server to run the admin console.  I am trying to get back in touch with him and I will update you guys when I have more info and try the things that Raymond mentioned above.

Ok, I checked the server.

User is trying to launch Laserfiche Admin Console from the laserfiche server.  We are logged in as the Domain Administrator, which is also a local administrator.  Both the Domain admin and local admin are listed as system managers.  The client version is the full client and 9.1.1.486 (so not web admin).

When I run MMC and add the Laserfiche Admin Console from there, I still do not see the Named Users and Devices node.

You noted that they use RDP.  Do they get the same behavior when logging in directly?

Hello Raymond.  I don't know that they have ever tired to do this directly.  This is a VM and they typically access it from RDP.

I will install the Admin Console locally for this user, and see if he can try from the VM Console to get a more direct connection.
