Can't install LF Snapshot printer on a 2003 server

asked on April 6, 2015

Having an issue installing LF Snapshot 9.2 printer on a 2003 server.  My LF server is 9.2 and it won't seem to install correctly.  I have uninstalled and reinstalled using the client package with custom admin rights.  It will only install the shared snapshot printer. Have also tried to install snapshot only using the msi and deselecting the shared printer.  Any ideas as to why this is?  Any help would be appreciated.

Was an older version of Snapshot installed on the server previously as a shared printer? Try uninstalling Snapshot and then go into Windows Printers and Faxes and make sure that the Snapshot printer is not displayed there. Also go into Print Server Properties and make sure that the Snapshot driver is not listed under the "Drivers" tab. Then reboot the server and reinstall Snapshot and see if you can install it as a local printer only now.

Kyle,

Can you clarify exactly what the issue is that you're having trying to install Snapshot 9.2 on a Windows 2003 server? Are you getting any error messages during the installation itself or are you seeing an error when trying to use Snapshot afterwards?

I was able to install Snapshot as a local printer (not shared) on a Windows 2003 server and use it normally. See the screenshots below:

Can you clarify if you are trying to install Snapshot to use it locally or if you are trying to install it as a Shared Printer and have other workstations add it as such?

There is no error on the install.  Despite having the shared printer deselected the setup.exe installs the shared printer only. I attempted typical, administrative and custom with the same result.  I am looking to install it locally and not as a shared printer.

Thanks for the help, I think the solution was removing it from devices and restarting the server.
