AuditTrail deletions report show snapshot app even when trustee is not allowed to delete

asked on March 30, 2015 Show version history

We have many 'recycle entry succeeded' audit events for users who are not permitted to delete. The app name is always Laserfiche Snapshot.

From an auditing perspective, this is setting off alarms for managerial staff since it appears people who are not permitted to delete entries are doing so via Snapshot (though I know this is likely not possible).

What causes this?

Snapshot will delete the document it has just created if there's an error during the import process or if the user cancels the import. I see no other place where Snapshot deletes entries.

The LF server grants all rights to an entry (document or folder) to the client session that created that entry as long as the original entry lock remains in place, regardless of any assigned access rights. Snapshot releases the initial lock on documents it creates as soon as it's done importing the data into it.
