Question

Laserfiche Snapshot Defaults in a Citrix Environment.

asked on March 20, 2015

Every time one of my clients users tries to use snapshot it asks for the users credentials. This has a bit of a negative impact on the user experience because they may need to use snapshot several times in a row.

Is there a way to have the users settings saved after the first use?

Thanks

Snapshot stores the Laserfiche user name and password in the registry if the user chooses to save their credentials. Snapshot settings are stored in the HKCU\Software\Laserfiche\Snapshot8\Profile\CurrentUser key for local printing mode, and the HKLM\Software\Laserfiche\Snapshot8\Profile\SharedPrinter key in shared printer mode. The user name is stored in a REG_SZ value named Username and the password is stored in a REG_BINARY valued named EncryptedPassword.

The data in the EncryptedPassword value is encrypted with an encryption key that varies from machine to machine, so for a mobile user with a roaming profile, the password may not decrypt properly. There is no work-around at the current time.

I've got a user having a similar problem to this, where they are using a program running through terminal services, had their Windows password expire and be changed, and now they are getting the prompt to enter their credentials whenever they try to print. We've tried changing the registry entries on the user's workstation, but the problem persists.

Are there any new solutions to this problem?
