Forms Portal Add-On

asked on March 17, 2015 Show version history

We have Forms Portal Add-On. I read in the help files that there are 2 types of the add-on:

Laserfiche Forms Standard Portal Add-on and Laserfiche Forms Enterprise Portal Add-on. How do I know which license do I have?

Do you need to specifically allocate that a particular forms instance has portal, or do all of them automatically have portal? If they are automatic, you have Enterprise.

There is a forms portal box that needs to be checked for each forms instance that i add in the license manager. Is that enterprise?

It sounds like you have the Standard Portal Add-On. If you have Enterprise, there is no box to be checked.

Note that if you are using Directory Server 9.2 (rather than License Manager 8.3 or earlier), the checkbox for the Portal will still be shown for Enterprise editions of Forms Portal, but will be automatically checked and read-only.

Hi Brianna,

I am using Directory Server. It does not currently show as read-only or automatically checked.

Thank you for your answer.

Are you limited in the number of Forms instances you can specify as Portal? All Enterprise means is that all of your Forms instances can be specified to be Portal.

I want a forms portal dev & test environment. All I need is if I check that portal box will I get only one environment or I can have multiple portal environments.

If this is standard forms portal, there will be a count. If there's just a box with no count, you have Enterprise. The easiest way to check would just be to create two instances and see if you can allocate portal to both instances.

There is no count. I will try it out.

Thank you for your response.

In Directory Server 9.2.0.453, there is no count shown either way. In Directory Server 9.2.0.567 (which is service pack 2), there is a count shown (for Standard Portal only).

Since you said the checkbox was not read-only, it is likely you are using Standard. If you would like to find out the exact number without upgrading, you create an organization (or view an existing organization) and go to the licenses tab. Under "Laserfiche Forms" you should see "Forms portal" with a number to the far right. This will be the number of available Forms portal licenses.

Hi Brianna,

I created an organization & on the licenses tab I see Forms Portal which says unlimited and then 0 available. I understand that we have standard portal but the terminology mentioned on the Directory server is a bit confusing. I have attached a screenshot.

Hi Zainab,

The "unlimited" is referring to the Laserfiche Forms instances, which are unlimited, rather than to the portal instances, which are not. If you look at the Laserfiche Server section, you'll see similar formatting.

I can talk to our UX team and see if they have any ideas for improvement.
