Laserfiche rio server 9.1 - physical to virtual conversion - vmware 5.5

asked on March 17, 2015 Show version history

We are looking at migrating our physical Laserfiche RIO 9.1 server (also running license manager, web access, mobile, forms, import agent and audit trail) to a vmware host using the vmware converter tool. Will i run into any issues regarding license manager because of hardware changing to vmware hardware? If so, what is the procedure to remedy this after the move?

Thanks all!

Like any move whether is be from physical to physical or physical to virtual you will need to deactivate the license manager license and reactivate it on the new virtual machine. I believe you may have to reissue licenses to your other items as well.

Like Derek says you will need to re-generate the licenses but only if you change the Host name of the server License Manager is installed on. Either way you will need to re-activate License Manager because the HWFP will change. Actually. Reading your post all the LF options are on the same server, so you will need to re-generate all licenses as the HWFP will change for everything.

This is a useful KB article to have around at times like this - DEACTIVATION

Hope this helps!
