Question

Timeout for incomplete forms

asked on February 27, 2015

I know, through a couple of threads posted here, that through IIS and the Forms Application Pool, we can adjust the timeout for inactive sessions in general.  However, it doesn't appear there is a way we can cancel out partially-submitted forms?  By that I mean if someone saves a draft of what they're working on, and they don't go back to complete it, the Results page shows that form as being In Progress, and it will continue to look that way until such time that someone goes and manually deletes it.

Might there be a way we could set a timeout for partially-submitted forms so after x number of days, for example, if someone hasn't come back to complete it, the partially-submitted form would be deleted completely (or something similar)?

Thanks for anyone who can assist.

Hi Marty,

I believe your question is the same one being asked here. The Forms team knows about the feature request, but if you have more use case details to add, we'd love to hear your input!

I'm not sure what you mean by a partially submitted form. If you are referring to the Save as Draft option, those do not show up in any reports as being in progress. Can you give more detail on what you mean by "partially-submitted forms"?

My bad, I was wrong about a saved draft. :)

What would be nice, for example, is to have the ability to clear out a form, from the Results page, where someone has had their first submitted form rejected, and they never go back and finish what they started.  I can already see some form results having In Progress all over the place, and they have sat longer than a number of weeks.

Would you know of a way of clearing off any unfinished forms, say, after x number of weeks?

That's exactly what I was looking for - thanks, and I've added one of our scenarios to that posting.
