Question

Applications can authenticate but users can't against LF LM in an untrusted Domain

asked on February 27, 2015

We have two domains

1. Production

2. Test

Test domain trusts Production but Production Domain doesn't trust Test (for security reasons).

License Manager is installed in Production Domain. Now, we can install LF Applications e.g LF Server and Quick fields, in Test domain and can license them against the License Manager in Production Domain. But why this doesn't work for Named Users? Test domain users in License Manager can't login to repository in Test environment using their AD account through windows authentication.

The License Manager does not check if the users can autheticate, it just retrieves a list from the domain. The License Manager provides a list of named users to the Laserfiche Server and when a user is attempting to log in, the Laserfiche Server verifies their authentication token. So if the Laserfiche Server is in the Test domain and a user from the Test domain tries to log in, the verification is all done in the Test domain without the involving the License Manager.

Are you sure your user have been allowed access in the LF Admin Console for the repository in Test?
