In a previous version of Snapshot I was able to change the default template values at my discretion just like Laserfiche scanning. I am unable to do so now. Is there a setting that I am missing?

Answer
I'm not noticing any difference in behavior between Snapshot 9.1 and 9.2 in the following scenarios:
- A template has fields that have a default value
- In the Snapshot Configuration (from the Windows Start menu and not the Snapshot properties that may appear after every print job) I have the "Template" tab configured to use the template mentioned above. However, here I change the value of the field to use something else besides the default.
- In the "General" tab of the Snapshot Configuration, I have it "Assign it the configured properties without prompting"
- Whenever I Snapshot any document, it will use the Invoices Template and Vendor 3. I do not get the option to modify the field values after the print job and before it gets sent to Laserfiche.
- Going back to the Snapshot Configuration, under the "General" tab, if I use the option to "Prompt to configure properties" then after every print job, I do get the option to modify field values, but in this situation, the field values will be initially set to use their default values and I'd have to manually change it each time if I want to use "Vendor 3"
Using both Snapshot 9.1 and 9.2, if my template defaults to "Vendor 1" but I want to use "Vendor 3" instead, and if I don't want to have to manually change the field value after every print job, then I would have to go into the Snapshot Configuration (from the Windows Start menu) and manually change the field there to use "Vendor 3" but then also make sure to set the option to "Assign it the configured properties without prompting"
If your experience is different from what I've described and Snapshot 9.2 is working differently than how Snapshot 9.1 had worked for you, please open a support case with your Laserfiche reseller so we can investigate the matter further.

Hi there,
The issue that the field value set in user profile is replaced by the default value in Snapshot is fixed in Laserfiche 10.1. It is available in the support site now.

Hi Lori,
Can you clarify in what way you're unable to change template field values when using Snapshot? Is it that after you print the document, the Laserfiche Snapshot window with the document properties doesn't appear, so you are unable to modify field values? If it's something else, please provide more context as to what's occurring.
Thanks
I used to be able to enter values in the template of the document properties tab and then save it as my default profile so I would not have to enter them every time. Example: I have 200 invoices from one vendor, I was able to select that vendor and save it as my default profile so every time I printed with Snapshot, the vendor was already filled in.
To clarify, are you having an issue going into the Laserfiche Snapshot Confiugration and setting a template to use by default with a specific Vendor value filled in the vendor field? Or is the issue the inability to change the field value away from the default?
In the below screenshots, this is how you would normally have things configured where you set a default template and field values and then not have to manually specify them after each Snapshot print job.
If you are wanting the ability to be able to modify the field values after a print job and use something different than what's set by default, then you would want to use the option "Prompt to configure properties"
If I'm still not understanding the issue you're experiencing, please provide additional details to add more context. Another option may be to contact your Laserfiche reseller to open a support case if that's easier for you.

I want to be able to modify additional field values such as the invoice number and amount as well as the approval status. Currently, if i set the values that I want to be maintained on every print job that is done, i am no longer able to. It sets all values back to the original default of the template. As the example below, the only way to get Livestock Express to stay as the vendor, is if I change the default for the field.
Thanks for clarifying. I wasn't able to recreate the issue. Snapshot is configured to prompt for document properties. It had been configured to use the Invoices Template where the Vendor Name field had a default value set. After I Snapshot a document, I'm able to change the Vendor Name value from the default to a different value and save the document. Then in Laserfiche, I can see my document using the new field value.
One thing to note is that I'm using Laserfiche 9.2.0 SP1 from KB 1013588 although there weren't any specific Snapshot fixes.
At this point I would recommend contacting your Laserfiche reseller to open a support case so this matter can be further investigated.
I can also manually change the values each time but what I want to do is when I have 200 invoices with the same vendor and GL Account I want to fill it in only once and then have it repeat every time I select print with snapshot.
I used to be able to do this on 9.1 but now that I am on 9.2 it no longer works.
We've experienced the same issue. I believe it started in 9.1 and you'd need to look back to 9.0 or earlier to see the desired behavior. Snapshot used to store my preferred value for each list field in my profile, rather than reverting to the field's default value every time the profile loads.
I have this issue as well. This is very frustrating for my users, for over 7 years they have been able to override default values by setting their choice in snapshot configuration and it has worked. Not modifying the template values is not an option. Additionally, I have run into the same issue when creating a new document from pages of an existing document. Instead of bringing the document field values, it enters the default field value. Now I am unable to update them to the 9 client because of this feature. Is Laserfiche working to remedy this issue?
Hi Kathy,
The issue about the the field values being replaced when creating new documents through the desktop Client was resolved in the 9.2 Client. It looks like the Snapshot issue was finally tracked down and will be addressed in the upcoming 10.1. release.
Thank you, Justin. I see an upgrade in my near future :-)
