Error after LF9.2 Sp1 Client update

asked on January 16, 2015

After installing the released SP1 for LF9.2 to upgrade the Client version we now get the below error when trying to Save Electronic Documents (MS Word 2013) to Laserfiche.

Retrieving the COM class factory for component with CLSID {18180389-3265-4A2B-AF3A-228629DFAB51} failed due to the following error: 800700c1.

   at Laserfiche.OfficePlugin.Connector.App.CheckServerVersion(String server, Int32 port)
   at Laserfiche.OfficePlugin.UI.LogInDialog.BeforeLogin()
   at Laserfiche.OfficePlugin.UI.ConnectorProxy.LogInDelegate(IOPConnector connector)
   at Laserfiche.OfficePlugin.UI.ConnectorProxy.ExecuteOperation(String rawMethod, Object[] args, Boolean& autoReconnect, Boolean logArgs)
   at Laserfiche.OfficePlugin.UI.ConnectorProxy.GetEntry(Int32 id)
   at Laserfiche.OfficePlugin.UI.SaveToLFNewDialog.BrowserToRecent()

Before the applying SP1 this was working fine. So to troubleshoot I then ran a repair of the LF Client Suite 9.2 software and it then prompted to reboot the PC. Once the PC was started, the user could then successfully Save the document to Laserfiche.

I tested the same from my own laptop and the behavior was exactly the same. Steps taken are as follows:

1. Install the LF9.2 SP1 exe on PC running version 9.2.0.343

2. After install Opened MS Word Document and tried to Save to LF. Received Error

3. Ran Repair on client, rebooted PC

4. After Reboot, open MS Word Document and attempted to save to LF, Save Successful.

5. Ran SP1 installer Again.

6. Open MS word document and attempted to save to LF, Error received as above.

7. Restarted PC and retried test in point 6, same error received.

8. Repaired Client and Reboot PC and then only would the Document Save successfully to LF.

Anyone else experiencing this? I know the SP1 was intended to fix behavior where local copies of Electronic Files could potentially be opened when accessing them from the LF client, but for us this seems to have broken the plugin and does not allow one to save at all.

Just to add, this doesn't appear to be a wide spread issue. We weren't able to recreate it on a test VM (Server 2012 R2 with Laserfiche Server/Client 9.2 SP1 and Office 2013 32 bit). Perhaps there may be something related to a specific detail of your and the customer's implementation that is resulting in the error. Opening a support case as Raymond mentioned would be the best way for us to troubleshoot the matter further.

I have a customer that is now receiving this error as well, same version of LF, Office 2010 x64. I don't see any support cases related to this error, can someone tell me if there was a resolution?
