Reactivation was not successful - Directory Server

asked on January 13, 2015

HI, I'm trying to renew our master licenses to enable new functionality and products but when I select Renew on the Directory Server interface I get the following error:

Reactivation was not successful: Could not establish trust relationship for the SSL/TLS secure channel with authority 'activation.laserfiche.com'. (LFDS10)(LMO0)

Can anyone confirm which ports we need to have open on our firewall to communicate with the activation server?

I know previously we had opened I think port 443 when we still ran on Licence Manager, but I have not been able to do an Online activation since switching over to using LF Directory Server.

Did you open port 443? If so, what browser are you using?  Please open port 443 and try again.

If you cannot activate from the machine, you can try doing an offline activation from another machine or have your VAR do it for you.

*Edit: Our support site issues have been resolved.

Just to add --

I know earlier this morning someone from our Technical Support Center asked me if I could get into "My clients activation keys" and/or "My Clients license files" on support.laserfiche.com.

No one here could reach it, nor could I reach it from outside of our network. It seems to have cleared up now as I can access it now, but if that website was down earlier I'd guess that the entire activation site was off for a while. Since the website is back up now your reactivation might work too.

The activation server and support site are independent of each other. The issue this morning was just related to the support site and not anything to do with the activation server.

Thank you for everyone's replies.

Port 443 seems to still be open as per our networks team. We have been making use of Offline activations before but this is cumbersome and puts delays in getting things done especially when licenses ect are required urgently.

The strange thing is that when I try the renew License options from the Directory Server web interface, I get the error as listed above. yet, If I use the Activation tool that is located in the Directory Server folder under Program Files, the activation is successful, but after that I need to import the License file using the Web interface, and then after the Directory Server service is restarted, the added licenses where showing correctly.

Does the machine connect to the internet using a proxy?  If you do not use a proxy and connect directly, does it work?

Hi Raymond,

Yes  all our outbound traffic goes through a proxy. The network team did however open the proxy for all communication from our Server. Prior to doing so even the Activation tool could not connect and activate the Licenses. After the proxy was opened, the Activiation tool works when run by launching the exe from the Directory server folder, but it still does not work when running it from the Directory Server Web interface.

Are you getting a message with the Proxy opened?  Same exact behavior?

The behavior I explained was after the Proxy was opened. As I mentioned above, before it was opened, neither the worked.

Please have you VAR open a case with Support so we can run some traces.
