Question

OCR license check failed (rio 9.1)

asked on January 9, 2015

Hello,

I have one user who is getting an error message when trying to scan documents.

The problem seems to arrise when the OCR processing is trying to rotate the images. It hangs for a few seconds then allows the user to save the image.

This is a fresh install of windows 7 on a brand new workstation. I have uninstalled and re-installed the client twice and nothing seems to correct this issue.

I have attached a screenshot of the error I am getting.

Any suggestions?

Can you give us the specs of the machine? How much memory does it have and what kind of CPU?

I've seen this exact error message before, but in my case it was related to the Windows user not having sufficient permissions to read a certain config file in the .NET framework. In particular, C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.30319\Config\machine.config  was the file that caused the problem. You could ensure the user has sufficient permissions to the whole \Framework folder if you wanted to be safe.

That could be right. However, she did say that "It hangs for a few seconds then allows the user to save the image" and continues on successfully after that.

If it were a rights issue, the process would not get that far and would fail everytime.

All cases where we've see this concern system resources, hence the question we asked initially.

I'm getting the same message on one of my scanners, does anyone have a solution?

You should check the system resources on the machine where you are experiencing this behavior (CPU and memory through Task Manager).  In the cases where we have seen this behavior, the processor simply is not fast enough to handle the image processing tasks being given to it.

Ray,

Does this message/error affect anything to the quick fields session or documents?  Or can this be ignored?

It will affect the scanning processes you are using (i.e. no OCR).
