Question

There was a SQL error 2028 when adding a Named Device in License Manager

asked on January 7, 2015

Hello,

i'm curious with the following case:

I need to add a specific machine as Named Device in my LF License Manager.

The PC name is SRV01 and its host id is a0-d3-c1-23-f4-02

When I press OK, there is the following error:

There was a SQL error. (2028)

But if i put any other Host ID (even if it does not exist), the registration goes fine.

My questions are:

1. As far as I know there is no SQL server involved in the License Manager. Is that true? If not, where/how it is configured?

2. Why this specific HostID generates this SQL error, and not any other?

3. How can I solve this issue?

Thank you for your clarifications and best regards,

License Manager uses SQLite. It's unclear if there may be an issue with the license database. However, you may want to open a support case so we can investigate further. Enable License Manager logging (with the log level set to "debug"), restart the License Manager service, and then recreate the error. Then provide that log file when you open your support case as it may contain additional details pertaining to the error which will be helpful for us in troubleshooting.

Hi Alex,

We are facing the problem again and the log file says:

There was a SQL error. (Unknown error code: column host_id is not unique) (2028)
Query:insert into named_devices (host_id, name, flags, description, update_number) values (:hostID, :name, :flags, :desc, :upd)

As mentioned above, the Name Device was previosly created, then deleted (the configuration was wrong) and we need to RECREATE it.

How can we clean the SQLite database to allow recreating the same Named Device but with the right configuration?

Thank you and best regards,
