Question

Rio Directory Server communication

asked on December 10, 2014

Do all licensed products (WebLink, QuickFields, ScanConnect, etc.) have to communicate with the LF Directory Server or just the LF servers?  I have always assumed that all licensed products must be able to, but all I ever see referred to is the LF server.

The Server, Quick Fields and Import Agent do. Because the web products can be installed outside of the company firewall and configuration would be more complicated in that case, they do not call back periodically to validate their license with License Manager/Laserfiche Directory Service.

The general rule of thumb is that the Laserfiche Server does because it's the Server, and otherwise it's desktop applications that are licensed by instance. Which ends up basically being what Miruna said, but that's why it's that particular set of products.
